Thank you for your interest in Luton Stingray & Luton Penguins Swim Schools. The schools are run by Gill and Peter. Gill has been teaching swimming for 14 years with private and public swim schools and has taught schools all over the Hertfordshire area. Currently she also works in St. Albans and Hitchin. Peter has a background in I.T. so looks after the administration.
We have a number of fully insured and CRB checked Teachers together with Helpers and Lifeguards. This allows us to run classes for differing levels of competency from complete beginners through to the more experienced.
We run lessons at Lealands High School Pool on a Tuesday, Thursday & Friday evening 5.00pm to 7.00pm and Saturday morning 9.00am to 11.30am.
AND
We run lessons at Challney School Pool on a Monday evening 4.30pm to 7.00pm, Wednesday and Friday evening 4.00pm to 6.00pm and Thursday evening 5.00pm to 6.00pm.
All lessons are ½ hr long. There is up to 10 children in each lesson and there is always a teacher and at least one helper to each group sometimes two. We also offer some one-2-one lessons which we book in blocks of three. We teach three terms of twelve weeks each following the academic year. We do not swim during the half terms.
We take in children from the age of 3 upwards providing they are dry and they can understand a simple yes/no instruction. All flotation is provided.
As each child starts with us we assess them and put them into an appropriate group. Their progress is then monitored individually as they then work through a program of skills and stroke work as laid down by the ASA our governing body (British swimming). When they have completed all the skills or their stroke has improved enough they will be able to purchase the awarded badge and certificate that day.
They will be taught frontcrawl, backstroke and breastroke in the lower groups and then butterfly in the top groups continuing through to pre-competition. They are grouped by ability and we have all abilities in the water at the same time so if you have children at different levels they can be taught at the same time.
